Fort Wilderness by the Month and 2023 Crowd Calendar

Even though it can feel as though getting a reservation at Disney’s Fort Wilderness is nearly impossible, this is only true for a few weeks of the year. As Disney has shifted its pricing models, no longer is summer necessarily among the most crowded times. In fact, the Fort can be astonishingly quiet (except for weekends) in the last weekdays of July. And Fort crowds do not necessarily correlate to park crowds. For example, there are snowbirds who spend weeks in Fort Wilderness in the winter. Likewise, the Fort has become (somewhat unfortunately) one of the hottest places to be in all of Florida on Halloween. Continue reading “Fort Wilderness by the Month and 2023 Crowd Calendar”

How, Why and Where to RENT a Camper for Disney’s Fort Wilderness Campground

[Updated for 2021] When people think of camping in Fort Wilderness, they often only think of the three obvious options: renting a cabin, bringing a tent, or bringing their own recreational vehicle. However, there’s a fourth option – and it is quite attractive. In Central Florida, there are several companies who will not only rent an RV to you, but will also have it set up and ready to go before you even arrive at Disney’s Fort Wilderness.

As a super bonus – many also rent golf carts (and will deliver) at a lower price point than WDW. Fort Wilderness often sells out of these – so this eliminates that hassle.

I’ve provided some detailed information about several of these companies below (updated for 2021). Even with a range of pricing structures and features, this typically provides a large savings off of the cabin rentals at Fort Wilderness (and can sleep more people). Why Being Over 45 in WDW and Fort Wilderness is More Splendid than You Ever Imagined

I really used to dread getting older, having to color my hair, and knowing that I likely had more years behind me than in front of me. In all honesty, I never dreamed I would mellow out in the ways that I have, or enjoy reading a book in the Fort Wilderness campground instead of going to the WDW parks.  But my best times aren’t behind me – oddly, I enjoy my travels more than I ever did before. And like everything else at Disney World, that feeling is even more pronounced during my visits there. 10 Best Disney & Fort Wilderness Escapes for Introverts

One of the first times I ever had a random panic feeling in my life was in the Magic Kingdom. I was six months pregnant with my first child, and we were watching the afternoon parade. On the fourth of July. Suddenly, I felt as though I was in a very hellish-hot “people wall.” That’s when I told my mother I thought I might faint. She grabbed my hand and led me away. Past the Haunted Mansion. Past the Snow White ride. Past the 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. And to the escalator and onto the People Mover.  Continue reading “10 Best Disney & Fort Wilderness Escapes for Introverts”
