Clementine BeachEver since the October 2018 announcement of Reflections: A Disney Lakeside Lodge, Fort Wilderness lovers have been on a roller-coaster ride of emotions regarding the impact of the modern, nature-themed DVC resort on the historic campground. This week’s release of publicly-available permits showing that nine bungalows are planned for the present Clementine Beach and the demolition of Mickey’s Backyard BBQ have once again fueled anxiety across social media. Some are going so far as to fear that the campground itself will end up on the chopping block, but most clues point to a Fort Wilderness Campground that will far outlive most of us. Here’s the Skinny on the New Mickey Bars in the Stores: Very Cute Fake Food

Mickey Mouse BarsI know some of us are very excited to see Nestle’s Mickey Mouse bars in the stores (for a limited time). But they are not the ones you get in the park. No matter what some bloggers (like Chip and Co. – one of my favorites) are saying, they just don’t taste the same – unless you are one of those who thinks margarine tastes like butter. Sure, they do have a purpose (read on), and they are very cute. But something is lost in the process of taking a wonderful food item and making it low in fat. Cost Comparison of 2019 “Free Food” Deal at Walt Disney World – Is it Worth It?

Free food at DisneyOne of the first things I look for when Disney says “free food” is whether or not Fort Wilderness (even the cabins) are included. Unfortunately, it does not appear that they are in the 2019 promotion announced today. Basically the deal is this – make your reservation by February 10 at certain resorts for stays from July 5-September 30, and either a full dining plan or a quick-service plan is included. The catch is that you must pay full price for the room, and get at least a 4-day park hopper for all in your group.
