2023 Fort Wilderness Camping Rates and Categories (Analysis and Rate Tables)

Since 2020, Fort Wilderness has had five categories of loops. In addition to the Tent loops, Full hook-up loops, and Preferred loops, the Premium loops were split into two categories. This newest category is called Meadows Premium. These are not a new loops.Instead, it is simply a new category of existing premium loops that happen to be located near the Meadows area of Fort Wilderness.

Fort Wilderness canoesThe Meadows area is the center of much of the action at Fort Wilderness, with the larger swimming pool, campfire show, canoeing, archery, tennis courts, a trading post and other activities all located there. It is the hub of most of the activity – and where a lot of people want to be.  The other prime area, the Settlement, houses the marina, the Trail’s End Restaurant, the Hoop Dee Doo, Crockett’s Tavern, another trading post, and the horse barn.

which loops or sites exactly are we talking about?

Prior to 2020, the premium loops included loops 400 through 1400.  The Meadows Premium loops are now 600, 800, 900, 1000, and 1400. This means that Loops 400, 500, 700, 1100, 1200, and 1300 remain as Premium Loops (and are slightly less expensive). (See: Loop Maps and Site Details)Loop Map

it’s a great big beautiful tomorrow

Even though the Meadows Premium loops are approximately 8 percent more expensive than the Premium loops, I really love this concept because it enables me and you to narrow down our loop preferences a bit more. Presently, if you want to be in the Meadows area, you would reserve a Premium Loop. But upon arrival, you might find yourself in Loop 500, which does not feel as though it is part of the Meadows area at all. In 2020, you will know that you will be within a rock’s throw or at least a short walk, should you opt for this type of site. Since this change, we’ve stayed only in Meadows Premium. Note that it does seem to sell out more quickly on many dates.

2023 rates – get yer wallets ready, Y’all

As expected, camping rates have increased for 2023, but not as significantly as is appearing in some other rate charts online.  For example a Premium Meadows site on January 1 is $223, up about 17 percent in a three-year period. In general, tent sites are showing very modest increases as they are the most readily available on a given date.

Following are the rates for Disney’s Fort Wilderness Campground and resort for 2023 as they appear on My Disney Experience. We created these to provide a handy comparative look at dates and the price structures of the five tiers.
